Not only in the allegedly free West, but also behind the Iron Curtain, there were people who undermined prevailing sexual norms. In “Original Sin”, the artist group CHEAP recalls the glamorous life of Luise Brand. In the middle of Thuringia, behind walls of houses twice as thick as the Berlin Wall, she conceived her personal utopia of a gender rebellion. CHEAP’s new production is an installational concert – autobiographical materials and live performances are integrated into a multimedia setting. The Berlin actress Susanne Sachße, granddaughter of Luise Brand, wrote the libretto. Los Angeles-based vocalist and performer Jamie Stewart, head of indie rock band Xiu Xiu, makes the music on the stage,
