MARIOS PAVLOU
Marios Pavlou (b. 1989 Limassol, Cyprus) is a multimedia artist based in Germany. They graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts, 2015 and completed their post graduates studies at the Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln, 2020.
In their practice they perform under the name "Cievil Momo", creating hybrid visual environments that act as installations as well as platforms for live performances. Their language is based on a reality through fiction within performance, moving image, writing, and music to share processes of desire, identification, pacifism and sexuality.
Throughout their practice they did solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions, collective projects, lectures and workshops around Europe. They worked as a member of the scenography and stage design team for the show “Still Life” by Dimitris Papaioannou, 2014 and “Original Sin”, a concert by Susanne Sachsse and Xiu Xiu, Silent Green, Berlin 2017. They have been an organiser and committee member of the student run space Circuits and Currents in Athens, 2015 - 2018, a founding member of: the artist web radio CircuitsOnAir, 2015 - 2018 and the performance collective You Are Group in Cologne, 2017 - 2020.
Lately they work on music projects, combining performance and songwriting to express thoughts on gender, geopolitical concerns and human rights. Their first EP titled Temperance ft the producer Nanuki, was recently released from the record label Ribbontail Berlin. They explore five themes revolving around the juxtaposition of self control and desire with influences spanning from traditional Greek Music and experimental pop into sound art and electro acoustic music.
