live concert - performance by Stranger in the body,

Centre of Performing Arts - MITOS, 2023

A performance that juxtaposes, reconstructs and mixes analogue and electronic sounds with lyrics and poems inspired by Cypriot & Middle Eastern cultural myths and contemporary European literature.

In the context of a live concert, a ritual moment is created where entities of the past flow between materials, music and poems to reach their mediator: a musical duo called "Stranger in the body" (a band from Cyprus formed in 2022 by singer Cievil Momo & music producer Kalaqs).

Historical figures such as Khnumhotep and Niankhkhnum, L'Inconnue de la Seine, Hatshepsut and Hippolyte Bayard create a narrative about the often unsettling experience of the physical in the social body to share experiences of desire, identification and sexuality. Images and songs unfold from a stream of consciousness that explores various forms of fluidity and the rediscovery of a body in relation to its dreams and the materiality of water.

"I let the words

and our hair

flow:

to come and go

wherever they desire.

To talk

before I do.

To swim

while their tongues on fire"

*A deck that flows* / Limited amount of 50 decks

Collages and poems written in the Cypriot dialect printed on 31 cards, dimensions 11 cm x 6 cm, 2023

Introduction on how to use the deck:

Imagine walking in a small, shallow stream every night throughout time. Your path will never be the same, no matter how many times you walk through it. The path that the stream follows each day is never the same. The path that the water chooses is never the same.

So these cards, with poems on the back of each collage, can be read in any row you put them in — to recreate a new stream of consciousness from the one that I was in while making them.

You can choose at least five collages based on your intuition. Then put them in a row and read the poems on the back side of the cards.
